Rio De Janeiro will host the 2016 Olympic Games. What an exciting city! I was lucky enough to travel for a month to Brazil and Argentina on a college trip (many years ago). One of the most memorable moments was climbing up to the Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking the city. The statue is 130 feet tall and weighs 700 tonnes. It on the peak of the Corcovado mountain, 700 metres above the city of Rio de Janeiro. After 9 years of construction, it was completed in 1931.
